A Look Back
A Brief History of Calvary Christian Center
The story of Calvary Christian Center begins in 1945 when the church was first founded by E. Alred as First United Pentecostal Church of San Pablo. It was under the direction of several ministers until Pastor BJ Robison assumed pastorate in 1971. Their first meeting place was a little one-room church on the corner of 19th and Market in the city of San Pablo.
Soon after Pastor Robison began preaching, the people of San Pablo started to take notice of this tiny church on the corner! It wasn't long before the pews were filling up to (and past) capacity with peolpe. Upon finding out that the church building was too small, they purchased their current building on San Pablo Dam Road.

One of the first major steps that the Robisons took was the establishing of a Christian school. That school, now in its thirty-fifth year of operation, is one of the most important ministries of Calvary Christian Center. Serving the families of over 150 students, Calvary Christian Academy provides its students with a quality education that is based on and permeated with Biblical principles. Pastor Robison’s commitment to discipleship begins with the spiritual investment that he and this congregation are making in these young people.
In 1990 the name of the church was changed to Calvary Christian Center to more accurately reflect the vision and mission of the church — that of declaring the message of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ to this community. Pastor Robison sees the Cross of Calvary not only as the basis of humankind’s salvation through the Blood of Jesus, but as the essential symbol of the life and power that comes is available believers through Jesus.
Calvary Christian Center is a community of believers in Jesus, who through the Spirit-filled life are learning to live the Christ-life, and who are reaching out to their community to help others reach their full potential for the glory of God!
